Eevee Evolutions in Pokémon GO

Pokémon GO uses different triggers than the main games. Every evolution costs 25 Eevee Candies, but the target evolution depends on a nickname trick (once per form), a buddy walk, a lure, or earned hearts.

Nickname Trick (Guaranteed, Once Each)

Rename Eevee to one of the following before evolving to guarantee the result. Each nickname works only once per account.

EeveelutionTypeNickname
💧 VaporeonWaterRainer
JolteonElectricSparky
🔥 FlareonFirePyro
🔮 EspeonPsychicSakura
🌙 UmbreonDarkTamao
🍃 LeafeonGrassLinnea
❄️ GlaceonIceRea
🎀 SylveonFairyKira

After using a nickname, further evolutions require the repeatable methods below. Names are case-sensitive.

🚶 Buddy Walk — Espeon & Umbreon

Set Eevee as your buddy, walk 10 km to earn 2 Candies with it, then evolve during the day for Espeon or at night for Umbreon while it is still your buddy.

🪨 Lure Modules — Leafeon & Glaceon

Evolve Eevee at a PokéStop with an active Mossy Lure Module for Leafeon or a Glacial Lure Module for Glaceon. The evolution silhouette confirms before you spend Candies.

💝 Buddy Hearts — Sylveon

Earn 70 Buddy Hearts with Eevee (Great Buddy level) and evolve while the Sylveon silhouette shows. Events sometimes reduce the requirement to as low as 7 hearts.

All Pokémon GO Eeveelutions cost 25 Eevee Candies to evolve, regardless of method.
